Mesa Falls

We pass the turn off to Mesa Falls every time we are at the cabin...This time we stopped and we are sooooo glad we did! Something about waterfalls completely amazes me and captures the attention of everyone around! We could have watched and starred for hours! We have to take the extra turns and time to go and enjoy these beautiful parts of nature!

Never been in a semi...

I have a cousin who's husband is driving trucks. He called the cabin to say he was passing along the highway and so we took the kids out to see...

Picnics in Yellowstone!

I never tire of the beauty of Yellowstone National Park! This year our cabin trip was only my sisters, all the cousins and grandma. We had a blast. Swimming at the club,, jumping in the lake, trips to Hungry Bear for treats, Wild West Pizza (BEST PIZZA EVER!), ice cream parlor, and of course watching Old Faithful go off, seeing all the bison, elk, wolves, bald eagles, puzzles, games, food and more! We love every minute of it!

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House

It is so great to get to take my kids into a temple! I love their questions, watching their faces and hearing them say they can't wait to be married there someday! Their favorite place is to stand in the sealing rooms and look into the mirrors! It gives them a true visual of what eternity means! As we were sitting through the video at the start, it mentioned Archibald Gardner! One of Greg's ancestors. He helped to settle that part of the valley. He also was talked about this last General Conference a few different times! What a man he must have been. We had a great day at the temple...and as always, ended with an ice cream at Chick-fil-A! Best ice cream ever!

Ever been to the Oakley Rodeo?

This is somewhere I grew up doing with friends and family! It brought back so many fun memories! I loved taking my family this year. As we were planning the night and where to have dinner someone dared say they knew of a better hamburger that In-N-Out. HOW DARE THEY!!!!! We are In-N-Out regulars (well we used to be before we started this eat healthy lifestyle) but we still love it! Well, have you heard of 5 Guys Burgers? It is good but not that good. We still had a great time eating with cousins and then heading up the mountain to the rodeo! YEE-HAW!

next stop...Scofield.

We also visited the graves of my great-grandparents in Scofield Utah! This was a big mining town. The cemetary was very interesting. Scofield is know for the largest mining accident killing over 200 people, leaving more women and children alone. Very cool to read and learn the history there.
This is a handmade headstone for my great-grandmother. They could not afford to buy one at the time of her death her husband made it for her. It is still sitting next to the new headstone at their grave.





As we were leaving Scofield, we passed a sign about an upcoming triathlon! Greg was in! He had his bike with him and was planning on doing some training anyway. The race was the day we were travelling home. I will put pictures in of the race later!

Price Utah...another roots trip!

Where do I start...the photos will tell our summer 2009 story!

July started with the roots trip to Price, Utah. I realized that I have never been to my grandma Pace's grave. She passed away when I was 8 month pregnant with Ashlynn, so I could not travel to the funeral. We spent the day with my mom and dad seeing sights from their youth! Mom was born in Price and dad moved there when he was in the 8th grade! It was love at first sight for them and the rest is history! We saw where thy lived, went to school, where their parents worked, ditches they played in, train tracks they were not allowed to pass to the west side, where they bought their treats and so much more! They loved telling us all about it and we loved learning from them.

Mom and Dad's high school.

Grandpa Hobbs was the manager of JC Penneys for years! They moved around a lot. Luckily he got assigned to the Price store so dad could meet mom!
