Christmas Eve Party at Grandma's

We went to Grandma and Grandpas for our traditional dinner and program. We had our delicious Chicken Enchiladas, Aunt Leslies famous beans, Aunt Heather's Awesome Rice and Texas Sheet cake for desert! The highlight of the night is when aunt Leslie takes all the kids outside and spots the sleigh and Rudolph's nose. That gets all the kids excited and anxious to get home and in bed! But not before the talent show. All of the grandkids participate - with whatever they want! It is so fun for them to share their talents and always a good laugh for the adults.

Ashlynn and her cousin wrote a play about how Ruldoph's nose became shiny...Very funny. They read the script and then acted it out!

Annie did a violin solo of Jingle Bells! She is doing awesome and asked for a new violin for Christmas. (We have been renting to see if whe was serious about it)

Jax performed a duet with his cousin and Dad on the piano. Jingle Bells!
Callie read a story - There was an Old Lady that Swalloed some Snow! She did a great job and is a fabulous little reader!

It is now time to go home and do our own family Christmas Eve. The tradition at our home is that everyone gets a new Christmas book. We open them throughout the day and read them. This year they all got the same story - different versions. It was "Twas the Night Before Christmas." We gather around the tree read our books. Greg took the opportunity to share his feelings on the true meaning of Chrismas with the kids. We try to keep them focused during the holidays on what we are really celebrating1 It is always good for our kids to hear our testimonies and feelings. I do not do it often enough.
It is now time to open our presents from Grandma and Grandpa Hobbs. We always think they are jammies - and we are always right! We change into our jams and head downstairs for all of us to sleep together in the family room and fall asleep to a Christmas movie. Then wait for Santa to come...Will he come?
